Our Programme

As an authorised PYP school we teach more than one language at PIPS Kowloon. Our classes are either bilingual (English and Putonghua) or trilingual (English and Cantonese, with supplementary Putonghua).

We offer the following programmes:
Under 2's Programme for 1-2 year olds
There are 2 or 3 sessions per week and 1.5 or 2 hours to choose from.
The class teachers are English and the longer sessions (2 hours) include introductory Putonghua twice per week.
Pre-Nursery for 2-3 year olds
Nursery for 3-4 year olds
Lower Kindergarten for 4-5 year olds
Upper Kindergarten for 5-6 year olds
Languages Taught

From the PN to Lower Kindergarten all children learn and are taught through two languages, English and Chinese. There is a choice of English with Putonghua (bilingual) or English with Cantonese and supplementary Putonghua, taught by a specialist (trilingual).

Both the English and Chinese teacher are qualified and of a native standard for that language. They teach alongside each other full time, collaborating together to use their own language in an authentic way. This could take the form of both teachers reading stories in their language or taking turns to lead circle times and small group time. The children are immersed in both languages for the whole of their time at school.
